Every cent has a place
Money is the one part of a product that can’t be nearly right, so this is the standard we hold it to. Deposits, balances, tips, fees, payouts, refunds and disputes: every movement is a balanced double-entry ledger entry, every payout is reconciled against Stripe line by line, and anything the rules can’t settle waits for a person instead of disappearing. We built it on a booking marketplace for salons and fitness studios, with an app for iOS and Android and a dashboard for the people who run it.
From the card to the bank
A customer books a blowout and pays a 20% deposit, and the card is saved for the rest. When the salon marks the appointment done, the balance and a $10 tip are charged to it. The platform keeps 15% of the service, never the tip, and holds the salon’s share for two days. Every movement is written to a double-entry ledger, where each transaction’s debits equal its credits and a payment Stripe reports twice is recorded once. On Monday the salon is paid, and reconciliation matches the ledger against Stripe line by line.
Classes paid in credits
A class pack is paid once and spent a credit at a time. Booking a class reserves a credit rather than spending it, a full class keeps a waitlist that books the next person with their own credit, and the studio earns only when the class runs. Every member is measured one by one, so the platform can see who costs more than they pay.
When it goes wrong
A late cancellation keeps the deposit, a no-show pays half, a card is declined, a refund lands after the payout and a dispute is answered and won. Each one has its rule and its ledger entry, and what the rules can’t settle waits for a person instead of being settled silently.
